A new month comes with new opportunities. Every day is a day to say yes to something. If an opportunity comes your way, how do you react? Are you close-minded? Do you dismiss it? Do you believe it is too good to be true? Are you apprehensive? Whatever the reason, saying no to an opportunity is you stopping yourself from trying something new. As we know, not every opportunity is for us, but how many times do you dismiss an opportunity rather than give it a chance? How would you know if you have never tried? An opportunity gives you the ability to try something new that could change your life for the better. An opportunity means a new experience. Sometimes it is good to shake things up and remove yourself from your comfort zone. It is in the areas of uncertainty that we discover something new. If you never tried anything or stepped out, how will you expand? Staying stagnant gets old, and new opportunities mixies things up.
1. Time to be open-minded
It can be easy to fall into a trap where our mind gives us many reasons why we should not do something. We can close our minds to new opportunities because we give ourselves a list of reasons why it will not work out or why it will not benefit us. However, the real question is, how would we know if we never tried? That is the truth, yes there is a possibility that it will not work out, but there is also a possibility that it will work out. Being open-minded creates a space where you look at the opportunity with a glass-half-full mentality. Things can work out if you let it. Yes, it takes time, but every good thing takes time.
2. Time to say yes
Learn to be open-minded and learn to say yes. Learning to say yes does not mean you cannot say no to certain things. However, learning to say yes is for those who say no to everything. Whenever you say no to something, you are always saying yes to something else. It works both ways. If you say yes to fear, you are saying no to trust. If you say yes to giving up, you are saying no to winning. If you say yes to failure, you are saying no to success. Now flip it. Instead of saying no to trust, say yes, say yes to winning and say yes to success. Learn when to say no, say no to fear, say no to giving up, say no to failure. By learning when to say yes, you can say yes to new opportunities, and they will propel you in your future.
3. Time to grab it
After being open-minded and learning to say yes, it is time to grab it. Your mind can psych you out when it is time to grab an opportunity. Here is where you tell it no. Say no to failure and yes to success. Look at the bigger picture and use it to push you into saying yes. Once you grab the opportunity, you realise that it is not as scary as you thought. When you grab the opportunity, that is when the real work begins. Here is where you work to excel. Here is where you reach for success. Opportunities come and go and go all the time, so grab the one that is right for you. How do you know if it is right for you? Well, does it align with your beliefs? Will it help you progress on your journey? Will it take you to another level? Will it encourage you to keep going?
It does not matter how big or small the opportunity is. If it aligns with your core values and everything listed above, then it is right for you. Every raindrop counts towards forming an ocean, so the small opportunities also help towards your bigger goal.
So today, be encouraged to do three things; be open-minded, say yes and go and grab it.
